Based in the heart of the Cotswolds and the home of the Arts & Crafts Movement, MASCo is one of Britain’s largest suppliers of reclaimed architectural and traditional building materials.
Founded in 1983 by directors Steve Tomlin and Debbie Kedge, the company first traded as Reclamation Services from Catbrain Quarry, then as Minchinhampton Architectural Salvage Company after moving to our current extensive premises.
Steve Tomlin – described by the television series The Reclaimers as one of the “bulldogs” of the industry – has built his reputation as the boss of the best specialist dismantling team in Britain.
Working nationwide, Steve’s past projects include the centrepiece for Grand Designs at Excel, Salvo‘s trade stands at Olympia and the Country Life Centennial Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. The latter, in conjunction with Rupert Golby, involved recreation of a life-size Hidcote Pavilion garden, regarded by many as the last great classical garden at the world famous festival.
Steve has also worked with Sir Roy Strong for nearly 20 years, furnishing his internationally renowned Herefordshire Laskett garden with major architectural elements.
Over the last twenty years, Seagos, Crowthers of Syon Lodge and Mike Roberts have closed their fine companies, leaving the national and international market for good garden statuary wide open to MASCo. Today, we supply many of the major gardens and stately homes of Britain with original urns, vases and fountains, together with major architectural features such as flights of steps and period orangeries and rotunda.
Unusual Georgian and Victorian garden memorabilia, animalia and massive stone features sit side-by-side with contemporary sculpture and Coalbrookdale three-tier cast iron fountains all displayed in full splendour at our Minchinhampton yard.
The team of restorers and conservators employed by MASCo have an enormous wealth of knowledge, enabling them to find, repair and install historic and decorative items ranging from an Adams Carrara marble chimneypiece to Art Deco stainless steel interior fixtures. MASCo recently dismantled, restored and sold the original Silver Ring Ascot Bandstand.
MASCo has been at the forefront of the movement to encourage sustainability through reclamation. The company is working with Hyder and Bioregional on the Olympic Games Park and have acted as consultants to Tilbury Douglas and other major construction companies in relation to reclamation and preservation of historic building structures.
We offer a comprehensive range of salvage products, carry a huge stock-holding and provide a research and sourcing service for designers, architects and planners. Simply contact us with your requirements and we will endeavour to help.
MASCo is now owned by Andy Triplow founder of The Old Radiator Company, Europes largest supplier of original cast iron radiators. Andy is restocking the yard after a major auction in September 2011. Masco are now specialising in geometric floor tiles, including encaustic floor tiles and the making up of tessellated floors. There is also a wide range of garden furniture, reclaimed flooring and orginal radiators on site.
